When I was 9 years old, a bunch of my friends were Girl Scouts so my mom signed me up. Besides going camping & goofing off, the best part was Girl Scout cookie time. I have never been a sales person, but I just brought them home & everyone in my family seemed to scrounge up money every time they had the munchies. It also helped that my mom was always on some kind of health food/sugar free kick so my brothers and dad were happy to have yummy treats in the house (me too). Since then, I have had a special place in my heart for Girl Scout cookies (ok, I’m really just addicted to the Thin Mints).
I have often wondered why the Girl Scouts sell the cookies in January/February when everyone is supposedly working on their new years resolutions. This is a big diet and exercise time. If you think about it, this is the perfect time for an evil scheme. People want an excuse to cheat. Eating delicously fattening cookies will not make you feel guilty if it is for a good cause.
Now, you can guess why I have only lost 5 pounds (instead of the 10 I wanted to). ...Must have more Thin Mints...
