The perk about having a kid near your birthday is that you can really play up the partying. It lasted from her birthday on Friday until mine on Sunday. In fact, I am still not ready for the fun to end.

Whole Fam DamilyYes, I'm back. So much happened over the break that I don't know where to start.
On the radio yesterday morning, the DJs left a little teaser before going to commercials. They said, "Up next, we'll tell you what men secretly want for Christmas." Naturally, my mind started mulling that over. I started thinking about a magazine article that had tips on this issue. It said women should dress up in sexy little Miss Santa outfits to really please their lovers. Another one said that single men prefer kisses that taste like alcohol, while married men prefer peppermint. I always find these tid bits of information amusing, so I wondered what the DJs had come up with. Finally, they announced that 70% of men are secretly hoping their significant other will get them tickets to a sporting event. I couldn't help but chuckle, because that is so true.I toyed with the idea of getting Steve tickets to a game for a second, but my Christmas shopping is finished and he is well taken care of. I went about my normal day, until my boss offered me his tickets to the Heat game. Lucky Steve got his secret Christmas desire last night. I even invited one of my friends, so he was with 3 chics. Now, that is the perfect Christmas gift.

Today, I realized that it has been a long time since I posted a photo for funny photo Friday. I decided to post this one because Lexi looks like a little devil. Hmm...I hope this isn't a sign of things to come (except during the inevitable terrible twos and the teenage years).
We had an amazing Thanksgiving thanks to everyone in the photo above. This trip has made me realize just how thankful I am for blogging. I had only met Steve's cousins (Jennifer, Elizabeth, and Emily) and their families once (several years ago) at a family reunion. We have been reading each others blogs for about two years though. By getting to know each other that way, there wasn't any awkwardness. It was like being with long time friends.
I experienced a similar thing when Shokufeh came to meet us.
There are many things I am thankful for this year, but this trip has made me fully realize that being addicted to blogging is actually a great thing.

This weekend, we just had to take advantage of the wonderful weather (lower 80s). Can you think of a better way to enjoy it than walking to the beach? I can't. We even waded in the water, but it is getting a bit cold for the local wimps (including me). We'll leave swimming to the tourists from up north.
This is actually a funny photo. I usually just post silly or cute ones of Lexi. Her hair is finally long enough to get messy when she takes a wild nap. That is what I call a true milestone to celebrate.
As everyone knows, IT IS FRIDAY! Although we will be packing, moving and cleaning at a frantic pace this weekend (once again I have procrastinated), I feel the joy of Friday today. I have been thinking about the positive and negative aspects of this move. Overall, I love that we will be making a change because that sparks my interest. It will also be nice to become more familiar with a different area of Miami. Ok, so I would rather move away from Miami, but I am stuck here for a while so I might as well talk myself into being thrilled about moving to the beach.

Three months ago (June 14th), I announced that we had our house up for sale. My short attention span and the slow market had caused me to lose faith, but I am here to tell you that YES we finally have a contract on our house. The realtor came by last night with the offer and it was our rock bottom price (of course). We are still happy with it though - thank you South Florida Home Inflation! WE LOVE YOU! I feel like we were on a episode of "Flip This House." Now, I have to start looking for a place to rent in the Gables, the Grove, or on the Beach.
It's Friday and that means I get to post a funny photo. Lexi got her first cell phone last weekend. Actually, we bought her a set of keys and a cell phone, so I have something to give her when she begs for mine. I am also in the mood for day dreaming again (surprise). This morning, my mind is on travel (another surprise). I talked to one of my brothers about planning another international trip with them all. Actually, I have missed out on most of their great trips, so I should instigate the next one. I think I'll make a list of places I'd like to go. The list could go on for ever, so I'll stick to ones I might be able to talk my family into going to.
Before having Lexi, I did not realize that it was mandatory in I know most people down here get their baby girls' ears pierced when they are two months old. I don't see anything wrong with it, but I would rather not. The whole thing has never seemed like a big deal to me until I had Lexi.
You would not believe how many people ask me if she is a boy or girl and 99% of the time she is wearing lots of pink. They have all said that they could not tell because her ears aren't pierced. I happen to think that this logic is funny, but Steve gets slightly offended.

We went out to a few places while we were in PSL and got lots of comments about our boy, including one about her being a future ball player. I just laughed and told everyone that she is a tomboy for the day. I also teased Steve that we could call her "Alex." He wasn't too happy about that. I guess I need to get a bow for that outfit. As far as the ear piercing though, I will wait until kindergarten or later. Head to toe pink should be a good enough indication.
**If you are thinking she might need therapy once I get done with her, you're probably right. My mom used to dress my sister, Paige, in a navy blue sweat suit when she was a baby and she is a real wacko. (hahaha)**
Yesterday, I realized that I hadn't posted any photos for 2 weeks. I am going to try to add one at least once a week (Fridays). Can't promise though. I also decided it would be nice to do a meme today. Since it is Friday and I am in the mood to do a little day dreaming, I'll make this a meme for Labor Day weekend.
Every night when my head hits the pillow, I think of a top ten list to day dream about. This is my method for going to sleep quickly. One of my favorite is the Top Ten List of What I Would Do if I won $_____ (usually $ 1 mil, sometimes as low as $20k or up to $1 billion). You would be surprised, but I'm usually out by #5.

Lexi isn't the only one that is excited about it being Friday. I am looking forward to an uneventful weekend. I just wish Steve didn't have to work tomorrow. Plus, I am not too thrilled about organizing my house again. I guess we can't have fun all the time, but it is certainly nice to try.
Friday night, we decided to take Paige to Bahama Breeze. She had never been there and it is definitely one of our favorite chain restaurants. They have the best appetizers. We usually order coconut shrimp and island onion rings, which basically filled us up. For dinner, I had Jerk Chicken Pasta. Steve had Mahi Mahi. Lexi had imported bananas (we brought Gerber). I can't even remember what Paige had, probably because Lexi was using me as a jungle gym throughout dinner. I took bites between wrestling matches. We all had a good time though.

This long weekend was a whirlwind of activities from Steve's 39th birthday to Lexi's blessing and of course loads of family time, which you can never have too much of. On our way up to Tallahassee, Steve called his dad and found out he really wanted to go. We weren't far from his house, so we stopped off and picked him up. It was good for him to get out of the house and be around other people. I was surprised to find out that in his 40 years of living in Florida he had never been to the capital.
We stayed at my Aunt Sue's house, which is amazing. They own 40 acres about 20 miles east of Tallahassee. They designed and built a big Key West style house on a lake. We had Steve's birthday party there. I ordered bbq from a local restaurant and a cake with a picture of Lexi and Steve on it. It was also a mini-family reunion.
I enjoyed the weekend, but I wish we could have spent more time with my brother's kids. That is always my favorite part of being around family. Lexi got a chance to see her cousins and actually be with kids. At first, she was a bit put off by their in-your-face & hyper ways, but she warmed up quickly. All in all, it was a great trip for all of us.

It is Friday once again and with the road trip coming up tomorrow, I am working on knocking out the long TO DO LIST. There have been some major bumps in the road today. I came into work early and have already knocked out a few of the unexpected deadlines, despite the fact that ALL of my Microsoft programs have decided to lock up on my computer. NONE OF THEM WORK! I spent at least an hour talking to Microsoft & Dell and only got more frustrated because they both wanted me to talk to the other one. Good thing, I had decided to do this work in CorelDraw/Acrobat and I can access my email online or I would be taking lives. ...Time to escape the madness & have a LONG weekend. You can bet that I am leaving this problem for when I return. Oh Yeah!
