My Football Fans

We went to a football party on Friday to watch Texas A&M against the University of Miami. Since Steve doesn't have many Canes fans here, I thought it would be nice for the kids to go in support of his team. Should I mention that I hope our kids go to Texas A&M?

I am inclined to say that South Beach was a bit disappointing over the weekend, but considering we were always home by 8pm that isn't a fair assessment. Parties never get started until after midnight. So, instead of harping on the fact that Art Deco weekend was more fascinating because of the booths and street performers, I'll just post photos.

TGIF & Super Bowl Weekend

I am sure that most of you have heard that the Super Bowl is in Miami this year and that South Beach is full of activities. It should make for a very interesting weekend and not because of the game. In fact, I am not partial to either team. Having a baby means that I will not be out late enough to see many of the celebrities or crazy stuff, but perhaps we'll see a few things on our walks.

Let's Go Heat!

Still busy - thank goodness pictures speak a 1000 words. As you can see, we went to the Heat pre-season game last night. We only stayed until half time/Lexi's bedtime, but we made it on the jumbotron twice (too bad the picture didn't come out well).

Daddy's Daughter

In Miami, as far as my husband is concerned, we have 2 seasons - football & non-football. He likes all sports (and basically ANYTHING on ESPN), but nothing compares to footy, footy, football. Anyone who knows him, knows that he is a complete sports freak. I like sports too, but will never be able to compare to the fanatic I married. As you can see, Lexi is well on her way to learning the importance this time of year has for her Dadda.

Let the Games Begin

When you live in my house in Miami, you come to realize that there are only 2 seasons in the year, Football season & non-Football season. It is also clear that Football season has begun. This is a time when Steve ensures that the television is stuck on ESPN all week. He listens to talk radio and reads the newspaper like a drug addict looking for a fix. The home games that he attends are big events. He plans for days. His friends have the traditional tailgate party and an additional after game bbq. They are like psycho Red Sox fans. It is a good thing that I like sports and I am sure that Lexi will too. To be honest, she has no choice.

Eastern Conference Champs

Last night, Steve & I got to experience the best sporting event of our lives to date. We had lower bowl tickets to the Heat/Pistons game. What a thrill! Despite the big lead, we were on the edge of our seats the whole time like every fan there. Speaking of fans, Janet Jackson was about 20 rows in front of us. There were other famous people too, but we only saw them on the jumbo tron. It was the players we were there for though.

We were very lucky to get to go. Before my boss & his family left for a 2 week vacation in the Bahamas, he generously gave us his tickets to the last home game of the Eastern Championship Finals. He could have easily sold them for $1200 each. I'm glad it turned out to be such a memorable event, because it was hard spending the evening away from Lexi.
